Bring the magic and beauty of nature into your everyday life

Having a cousin who works at the zoo means I am lucky enough to be able to get up close and personal with some of the most wonderful creations.

The big cats would have to be one of my favourites. There is something awe inspiring about them which makes me feel an immediate sense of respect. Gazing into the warm, golden eyes of a lion; you can't help but be amazed by his stature.

Then there are the meerkats - what adorable little characters they are. Always wearing a cheeky grin and looking ever so mischievous. You can't help but smile at their funny antics.

I love them all... the baby orangutans, the otters and elephants, the bears and giraffes... to name just a few. So many incredible animals - how do I choose which one to paint next?!! What a wonderful dilemma to face. I am fortunate to be living in a time where there is still an enourmous array of wildlife around us. Will future generations be so lucky? Probably not.

We have been blessed with the gift of nature. This gift will be lost forever unless every single one of us becomes more attentive to the natural world. We need to nurture these gifts. We need to change our attitudes and behaviours. All of us have to take responsibility for the problem and be part of the solution.

But what can I do? I am only one of billions. I can't make a difference? Yes you can! Whether you are preventing cruelty to animals, shopping with calico bags or picking up litter along the road you are making a difference. You are helping promote change. You are showing others the way.

I love animals. I want others to get a glimpse into their world; to feel their magic; to appreciate them and respect them. How do I achieve this? One way is to bring their beauty and innocence into our everyday lives through my artwork. My paintings enable others to experience the magic of nature in their own home; to remind us of the rare and fragile gift we have. Paintings to be admired and enjoyed for years to come.

Exquisitely subtle details and realistic textures bring these paintings to life. People viewing my work often comment on how lively and realistic the animals are. This is because I spend a great deal of time observing the main features as well as the finer details - from the angles of the head and body right down to individual whiskers and markings. I am a perfectionist, working slowly and carefully to ensure that everything is exactly as it should be. It is a slow process but worth it in the end; especially when I see how delighted people are with the finished piece.
