Sizes

Pricing depends on the size of the portrait.  Size refers to the dimensions of the paper I work on, not the actual painted area.  An 8”x12” (A4) is suitable for head and shoulder studies of cats, small dogs and other small animals (rabbits, birds, hamsters, turtles etc).  If selecting this size for a cat or dog, be aware that the image will fill up most of the paper.

I prefer to give the image a little more room to breathe by working on a 14”x20” (slightly larger than A3) size paper.  This size tends to be more aesthetically pleasing when framed and is the size I most frequently use.  The 14”x20” is perfect for a head and shoulder study of any dog, or for a full length portrait of a cat.  It also provides enough space for a simple background and I can leave plenty of margin for your framer to work with.  This size can also be used for 2 pets (head and shoulders only otherwise they look too cramped).

For full length portraits of dogs or portraits of multiple pets, I often use a 21”x29” (slightly larger than A2) size paper.

The choice of size depends on the type of pet, its breed, the number of pets, where you plan to hang it and of course, your budget.  If you are unsure as to what size would be best for your pet(s) then please contact me and I will give you an honest opinion as to what would be most suitable.  I want your finished portrait to look great in your home and would not recommend the largest size simply because it is the most expensive.  I will quite readily suggest the smallest size if this is what I believe to be most appropriate.

Pricing

The price will depend on the size of the portrait, the number of pets in it, whether it is of the head and shoulders only or a full length study, and whether there are any extra inclusions that you might like (a detailed background, the pet’s name, its favourite toy etc).  The following table gives you an idea of what you can expect to pay but prices do vary depending on your specific requirements which is why all portraits are quoted individually.  Prices are in Australian dollars.  Please note that these prices are for one animal only and do not include postage or framing.

Packaging and Delivery

All orders are packed carefully with instructions to avoid damage.  Portraits are protected with acid free tissue paper and packed flat in a reinforced envelope or gently rolled into a mailing tube (for larger pieces).  They are then sent by a method and cost agreed upon at the time of ordering.  For instance it may be sent by a courier requiring a signature or by Australia Post's C.O.D. service.  For deliveries outside Australia there are a number of options available and this can be discussed at the time of ordering.  Several portraits can be sent together at no extra cost.

Payment

Payment can be made in a number of ways including: cash, cheque, money order, direct deposit at any ANZ branch, internet banking or Paypal (for those who live outside Australia).

I require a 50% deposit before starting the portrait.  This is because a great deal of time and effort goes into each portrait and I use expensive, top quality materials.  I need to know that you are as serious about purchasing a portrait as I am about painting it!  Once the deposit is received, I can begin.  The finished portrait is shown to you online.  After you have approved it, you need to send me the balance of the price plus freight (unless you want me to send it via C.O.D. which means that you pay these amounts to your local post office on collection of the portrait*).  The cost of freight will depend on your choice of delivery.  As soon as I have received this money, I will pack and send your portrait.  I know how eager you will be to get the portrait so I promise that there will not be any delays at my end.
