A little bit about me...

After completing a double degree in Commerce and Economics, I began my career in the area of Funds Management.  Everything was going well until my health took a turn for the worse.  I was forced to take extended leave and it was during this time that I discovered the wonderful world of art.  Drawing and painting provided a much needed escape from everyday life.  I hadn't really done anything artistic since I was a child so it was as much a surprise to me, as it was to others, when I revealed a hidden talent for painting.

I realised that my passion lay not in the finance sector, but in art.  Since then I have taught myself how to paint with pastels and acrylics.  My subject matter is many and varied but it is my sensitive and poignant depiction of animals that people most admire.  I adore animals and have always felt a bond with them; be they domestic pets or wild species.  I have been told that this is what makes my work stand out; that my love and compassion for animals shines through in my paintings. 

I have always been a perfectionist and approach my art accordingly.  My animal portraits are highly detailed and very realistic.  My goal is to enable others to enjoy the enchantment of an intimate encounter with nature.  It is important therefore, to accurately capture the character of the animal I am painting.  The tilt of the head, the soulful expression, the wise gaze, the sparkle in the eye... as I paint these things in, the drawing gradually comes to life.  Animals are my passion; there is something magical about them that always draws me back.  I hope that you will find some of this magic in my paintings.     

When I am not painting animals you will find me working on a landscape, a street scene or perhaps a colourful contemporary piece.
